For the GSI FPE USBD480 screen to work properly you need to first download and install the USBD480 screen drivers. Please note you should always plug your GSI wheel to the GSI PSU unit. Some USB hubs do not have enough output power and can cause issues.
To install the latest wheel firmware you need to initiate the GSI Bootloader application to load and run the firmware file. Open the HIDBootloader app and while holding the “Flash” button on the wheel itself (top left button) plug the wheel into the USB port and it will load into the bootloader application. You can now load the .HEX file and flash the wheel with the latest firmware update.
On some AMD systems the wheel screen can flicker if the frame rate is set too high in SimHub. To correct this issue reduce the frame rate to 20FPS in the USBD480 tab inside Dash studio section.
RGB LEDs
The RGB LEDs are controlled by the popular software Simhub and through a onboard Arduino Pro micro-controller board. The microcontroller board is pre set up from the GSI factory. If by chance the RGB lights stop working there are a few trouble shooting tips that you can take that will solve the issue.
1. Make sure your wheel is being recognized by the SimHub software.
On the left menu items go to the menu selection labeled “Arduino”. Once there you’ll see menu items across the top, navigate to “My Hardware”. Look to see that your wheel is being detected on the right under “Detected Hardware”. If your wheels Arduino is not being detected, try to restart the app and wait 10 to 15 seconds for it to load the microcontroller. If this has no effect restart your computer with the wheel attached and this usually solves the load failure.
2. Testing your LED lights.
Each car should have it’s own profile to match the proper rev range for that vehicle. Go to the Arduino tab on the left navigation and under the menu item labeled “RGB Leds” you can test each element using the “Data Test Editor” . You can also go into a session and adjust the RPM range for each car in the RPMS profile you create for each car. The amount of alerts and functions for the LEDs are endless so feel free to give each one a try under the “Add Effect” button on the right just above the profiles. Click on images below to enlarge.
